Finally! IMAP for GMail

I have been waiting forever for this! And finally my hopes and dreams have come true! Now I can return to my beloved Thunderbird… but wait, is it already too late?

Now that I have become accustomed to GMail, I don’t think I will be using a desktop client ever again. The great search features, filtering, labeling and message aggregation make using web based GMail a pleasure. I have learned to live with not having a local store of my e-mails; however, we’ll see what happens when GMail goes down regularly.

But wait! This will be an awesome addition to help with my Pocket PC email browsing… but wait, is it already too late? Now that Google updated their mobile interface, I don’t see a need to go back to a native e-mail client.

Oh well…

I don't know I kinda like the notification of new e-mails that a desktop client brings. Arguably you could drop the rest of the client and simply open a browser. Perhaps there is already something out there like that, oh well downloading firefox is quicker then looking for a other solution.
