Terror and Fiction

Last night, I woke up in a state of terror several times, with no real reason I can remember. Perhaps I should not have watched The Leftovers right before going to sleep.

When I awoke for the day ahead, I was determined to carpe diem, even though I was feeling weary due to lack of sleep. And in fact, today ended up being among my most productive days.

Writing Technical Blog Posts

I just had one of my posts published at SendGrid’s blog on how I write technical blog posts (yes, I wrote a blog post on how to write a blog post).

If you are a writer, technical or non-technical, I think you will find some value in the post. It’s a detailed step-by-step guide (process and tools) that should spark some ideas to include in your own writing work flow.

Enjoy!

Make a Decision

I’ve been putting off blogging for quite a while now, with a growing list of reasons to procrastinate. Along with some other commitments, which I’ll share later in this post, I’ve decided to once again attempt to achieve my greater goal of spreading the most positive energy to the greatest number of people possible. Writing is a scalable way to achieve that goal.

Because of a bout of food poisening ( there is an opportunity in every set back 🙂 ) I’ve had some time to spend thinking and reading. After reading some technical books like RESTful Web Services and Javascript: From Novice to Ninja, I turned to a oldie but goodie that has been neglected on my virtual bookshelf, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

So You Want To Be a Blogger

Guest Post by Kristofer Brozio at TestFreaks.com

So you want to be a blogger? You want to quit your wonderful 9-5 job and work from home, make your own hours, come and go as you please and just hopefully enjoy your life and freedom a bit more. I got news for you; it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. It’s certainly not easy, and it’s not going to be something that just happens overnight. If you want to do this full time, don’t quit your day job as you most likely won’t get rich from blogging.

I’ve been doing this for several years now for my own sites and other sites. Sadly, over the years, I’ve developed bad habits, and most likely you will too. It is human nature after all; we get into habits of doing things, or not doing things as the case may be.

FW: FW: FW: FW: FW: Viral?

I usually ignore all of the FW: emails I receive, until recently, when a mentor whom I respect greatly, asked me to view his and give him some feedback so that he can discover what my sense of humor was like.

I began to notice that much of this content is the same stuff I’m seeing on Digg.com, with the latter appearing in blog format. This got me to thinking (serious) if seeding your blog post within a community of “FWerders”  (for lack of a better term) would cause a viral effect. Particularly if seed the content as often as you receive FW: emails.

What do you think?

Pimp My Twitter Page

Several of my clients recently surprised me by making references to the show Pimp My Ride in context of updating the look and feel of their websites. This idea came to mind again while browsing around Twitter and noticing how cool some people’s profile pages looked, whilst mine… ahem… we’ll let’s just say the shoe maker’s children are always the last to get shoes.

Here are the steps to Pimp Your Twitter page…. we’ll what are you waiting for? Get to pimping!

70 Interviews to Help You Build an Outstanding Internet Company

Andrew Warner of Mixergy.com has put together some incredible interviews with some amazing people with purpose of helping entreprenuers create better Internet companies. Amazingly, all of the interviews are free!

There was one issue I encountered that minimized my joy a tiny fraction at finding this treasure trove; 1) not enough time to listen to them all right now! and 2) no one place to go for an easy short list of all of the interviews (this is undoubtedly because Andrew is busy creating awesome interviews!)

In this post, I have created a list of all the interviews in a easy to browse format that takes you directly to the interview page for your convenience. On that interview page, Andrew has an introductory video, written summary of the interview, streaming audio and download link. Enjoy! I sure am.
